Bed Hair Options

Hello ladies

I often get asked how I wear my hair to bed.  Many ladies ask if I wrap my hair or if I take down my bun every night.
I wrote a post a while back showing how I used to cross-wrap my hair at night.  You can read that post here.

I no longer cross wrap my hair at night and I certainly don’t do a traditional wrap either.
How I wear my hair now depends on what style I have worn that day.

Option One.

If I have worn a bun or style that I plan to wear again the next day,   I simply cover my bun/style with a big scarf.
The next day I use a hair mist/moisture spray to moisturise the outside of the bun/style and use a brush to neaten my edges.  My hair styles are never  tight or uncomfortable so there is no tension and I can sleep comfortably.

Option Two

Sometimes after moisturising and sealing my hair in sections, I put it in large twists and pile the twists on my head and cover with a scarf.  I also do this if the style I have been wearing has gotten too rough and I’ve taken it down to detangle and moisture and seal thoroughly.

The next morning I simply undo the loose twists and restyle my hair.

These two options work well for me.  What do you do to your hair when you’re going to bed?

      Hello Rebecca

I am sorry about the hair issues you have had. If your hair was not growing you would be bald, so its likely that your hair IS growing but may be breaking and thinning. You must have a hair care regimen that you are consistent with if you want your hair to thrive. please read all the contents of the section called how to care for black hair on this blog. it will help you create a hair care regimen and I hope you will begin to see improvements in your hair.
      All the best

      Hello Nana

thank you so much for your comment. I am so happy Hairducation is able to help you with your hair. You are supposed to use a silk/satin scarf or bonnet or head wrap to cover your hair at night. it is the most protective. The other option is to moisturise and seal your hair in the mornings and sleep on a satin pillowcase.

      I hope that helps

I want to go on the relaxed hair journey but I don’t knw if my can can survive it bcos its just too soft nd keeps breaking. Any ideas nd advice u have for me would be really appreciated nd I can promise you that it wud be followed consistently too. Thanks….

      Hello Bukola

I am sorry to read about the problems you are having with your hair. Do you actually have a a hair regimen you follow already?
If not I can only advice that you create a simple and effective one and your hair should improve and be stronger with time.
Please read the section of this site called How to Care for black hair. it will teach you all the basics of good hair care and from there you should be able to care for your hair a bit better.
Please note that relaxed hair or natural hair both need good hair care to be healthy.
